Louis Philippe, King of France
In 1791/92, escaping the French Revolution, Madame de Genlis stayed here for a short time with her young ward Louis Philippe, and his sister, Princess Adelaide d'Orleans. Later they moved to Sutherland House in Whiting Street. Louis would wait 40 years to be king.
(Francois de La Rochefoucauld also stayed here in 1784)
