Bradfield Combust Brickworks
Bradfield Combust, Bradfield St Clare and Bradfield St George all show evidence of brick making, according to the lists published in 1988 by C J Pankhurst for the British Brick Society newsletters, 21, 22 and 23.
According to Mr Pankhurst the Fisher family operated this brickworks. Note that he also placed two other members of the Fisher family at the Bradfield St Clare works.
Looking at its location on this map this brickworks seems to have been a relatively small business affair.

Details of the Bradfield Combust brickworks in 1884 shows a just a small and isolated enterprise. There is no kiln easily visible, but the small building to the south east could be labelled Kiln. It is unclear on this copy of the map. |

The area today The Post Office Directory for 1865 lists Bradfield Combust inhabitants. Theophilus Fisher is listed as a brick maker. By the time of White's directory of Suffolk in 1885 there are no brickmakers or any Fishers recorded here. |
